Licensing Division Supervisor
The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) is seeking a Supervisor to direct and manage the application process for licensed categories, including the new Hotel License Category. This role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Unit, managing staff, and implementing internal systems and policies. Key responsibilities will include:- Managing the day-to-day operations of the unit; supervising staff, including tracking and assigning tasks, conducting training and providing guidance.
- Developing, documenting, and implementing internal systems, policies, and procedures to organize and guide the division’s work and operations.
- Processing applications, performing mathematical computations, accepting and processing payments, and completing close-outs.
- Checking records for accuracy and conformity with established policies and procedures.
- Conducting intake of applications and related research, and liaising with DCWP General Counsel staff.
- Processing applications in all DCWP categories as needed.
- Backing up other supervisors and units as directed.
- Collaborating with Division Leadership to coordinate and manage special projects, including the implementation of forms for new license categories.
- Simplifying and streamlining information provided to licensees.
- Coordinating and scheduling meetings with external and internal stakeholders.
- Directly coordinating day-to-day implementation of Licensing projects and tasks.
- Conducting complex system searches, reviewing documentation for accuracy, data entry, and quality assurance.
- Prioritizing assignments and effectively implementing strategies for special projects and initiatives.
- Assessing staff performance and providing feedback to motivate and improve performance levels.
- Compiling data to identify productivity and categorical trends for streamlining, re-engineering, and training.
- Identifying administrative and operational problems and providing recommendations for efficiency.
- Reviewing and analyzing operational procedures for uniformity and consistency.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.
- One year of satisfactory clerical experience.
- Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
- Management experience with demonstrated ability to develop and motivate staff.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Experience in budgeting, purchasing, administrative management, or technological record or project management.
- Experience in training, developing protocols and policies, and assessing operational efficiency.
- Attention to detail, excels in time management and project follow-through.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Significant experience with mediation and reconciliation.
- Understanding of intake and processing procedures.
