Turner Construction Company is seeking a dedicated Traveling QC Manager to support its Market Segments Group (MSG), focusing on Data Centers, Pharmaceutical, Industrial/Manufacturing, and EV/Battery/Renewables projects.
Position Description
The Traveling QC Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and developing project-specific Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Plans. This role involves managing and supervising the implementation of these plans and leading the QA/QC staff to ensure full compliance with contract documents.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the development and implementation of project-specific QA/QC Plans in coordination with project teams, owners, architects, and contract documents.
- Ensure adequate and qualified QA/QC staff are assigned to projects.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders to ensure project compliance.
- Lead, supervise, and develop Turner QA/QC staff, including performance appraisals.
- Uphold strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements.
- Develop a thorough understanding of contract documents, including contracts, plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Develop engineering procedures for document control, submissions, RFIs, material samples, cost changes, and change orders.
- Implement project-specific QA/QC Plans in coordination with safety plans and project schedules.
- Continuously improve strategies and tools for documenting and tracking compliance.
- Engage all project staff, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants in the QA/QC process.
- Conduct and arrange for testing and inspections, analyzing and reporting results.
- Expand and improve QA/QC plans and procedures as the project progresses.
- Direct the removal and replacement of non-compliant materials/workmanship and document corrective actions.
- Research and apply additional QA/QC and Lean procedures to enhance project delivery quality.
- Oversee project close-out and quality reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of five years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Construction experience bridging field and engineering responsibilities.
- Knowledge of construction processes, means and methods, materials, installation procedures, and tolerances.
- Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Turner's project management software.
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven leadership qualities and a desire to teach and mentor staff.
- May require QA/QC certification depending on the specific project.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell. Frequently required to stand and walk. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Work is performed on-site at construction work sites, exposing the employee to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level is usually moderate to very loud.
