Job Summary
The Business Development Manager is responsible for achieving and exceeding revenue targets across an assigned North American territory within Meridian’s Life Science business. This role focuses on identifying and securing new business, expanding existing accounts, and driving adoption of immunological and molecular solutions through consultative, technically informed selling. The position plays a key role in growing market share, executing territory strategy, and delivering sustainable sales growth.
Key Duties
- Drive new account acquisition and expand existing customer relationships through consultative selling and technical expertise in molecular and immunological testing.
- Develop and execute territory and account strategies to exceed revenue and growth targets.
- Manage the full sales cycle, including prospecting, lead qualification, validation, commercialization, and contract negotiation.
- Maintain accurate pipeline management, forecasting, and reporting using Salesforce, including tracking metrics such as conversions, revenue, and growth by account.
- Build trusted partnerships with customers by proactively addressing needs, resolving issues, and coordinating internal resources as needed.
- Monitor market dynamics by gathering competitive intelligence and customer insights to inform strategy and opportunities.
- Present territory performance, wins/losses, and forecasts through regular business and leadership reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, or Life Sciences required; advanced degree or MBA preferred.
- 5–8 years of successful life science or IVD sales experience, with a proven record of double-digit growth and managing high-value accounts.
- Strong consultative and strategic selling skills with experience using CRM tools (Salesforce preferred).
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Genomics experience strongly preferred.
- Travel is up to 50%
- Comp Range: $103k-145k (base)
