About the Role
GovCIO is seeking a skilled Systems Administrator to provide ongoing support for core system applications. This role involves performing operational tasks such as monitoring system resources and conducting routine maintenance to support 24x7 life cycle applications. The position also requires on-call support and may involve periodic customer site work activities. Candidates must be willing to work nights and possess a Security+ certification and an active Top Secret clearance.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Provide support to the Background Investigation System in both Production and Test environments.
- Support and validate developer deployments in both Production and Test environments.
- Assist other Administrators with ServiceNOW tickets assigned to our group.
- Closely monitor multiple applications and systems with other Admins to ensure successful file processing.
- Assist in the documentation of standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with other groups to remediate issues.
Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
- Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including hardware, systems software, applications software, and configurations.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement network/system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
- Provide regular monitoring and analysis for short and long-range planning for in-house systems.
- Prepare or ensure appropriate documentation, including operational instructions, exists.
- Write or modify basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate administration tasks.
- Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements.
- Be able to work onsite as needed at DCSA sites (Quantico, VA; Ft Meade, MD; Boyers, PA).
Daily Activities
- Monitor multiple systems for successful file reception and processing.
- Monitor the ServiceNOW ticketing system for incoming requests.
- Share information and status updates for ongoing work during shift crossovers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of system administration experience (or equivalent experience).
- MUST have a Security+ certification.
- Demonstrated ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to complete tasks with minimal management oversight.
- Three years of demonstrated experience in identifying, evaluating, and resolving application-level production issues.
- Three years of demonstrated support of Microsoft Windows Server/Desktop environments.
- Three years of demonstrated professional experience supporting a Linux OS production environment.
- Three years of demonstrated professional experience supporting Oracle SQL in a production environment.
- Three years of experience with Microsoft Office products (intermediate expertise).
- Willingness and flexibility to perform shift work, including third-shift responsibilities.
- Minimum of one year of experience with the ServiceNow ticketing system.
- US Citizenship required.
- Clearance required: Active Top Secret clearance.
