About the role
Assistant Controller - Target Rock Team
We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join our Target Rock team. As a strategic business partner to the Business Unit Controller and cross-functional leadership, you will analyze all aspects of financial operations, including manufacturing and cost performance, cash flow, and deviations in operating results. You will play a key role in driving the financial planning process, identifying trends and drivers, and partnering with the Business Unit Controller in maintaining the company's financial, management, and compliance reporting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures accuracy and timely reporting of actual results, financial planning, and analysis activities to support global financial processes. Ensures compliance with GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and corporate policies. (20%)
- Leads the close process and prepares budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections to guide financial management. (20%)
- Identifies and evaluates fundamental financial issues, providing direction for major functional areas. Possesses strong accounting knowledge and familiarity with business strategies and company goals. Proactively identifies financial problems and suggests decisive actions. (15%)
- Assists in developing accounting and financial objectives, strategies, and tactics. Measures performance against company goals, identifies obstacles to growth, and implements improvement strategies. (15%)
- Coordinates the preparation of annual and quarterly budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections. (15%)
- Reviews proposals and appropriation requests, analyzes ledger and module transactions, prepares special reports, handles projects, manages elements of A/R and A/P transactional flow, participates in strategic planning, supports shared services, and assists with payroll processing. (15%)
What You Bring:
- Knowledge of GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, Auditing, IFRS, FAR, and CAS.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (MBA or CPA is a plus).
- Five (5) plus years of related experience in financial management and accounting.
- Two years in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with long-term contract accounting (EAC, POC, ETC).
- Experience with government accounting is an asset.
- Excellent personal computer skills, including advanced spreadsheet formulas, database, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to comprehend information and make independent decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial terms simply.
- Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DOD Security clearance.
