What the job really is
About the Role
A fast-growing German life science company specialising in proprietary drug-delivery technology for plant-based active ingredients is looking for a Technical Sales / Business Development Manager – Ingredients. This is a pivotal commercial role, acting as the key bridge between the R&D/lab team and buyers at leading supplement brands and contract manufacturers.
The company's technology dramatically enhances the water solubility, bioavailability, stability, and taste profile of natural actives (think curcumin, boswellia, berberine, and more), serving customers across nutraceuticals, food, pharma, and personal care. You'll be joining at an exciting commercial inflection point — following a highly successful trade show debut — with a portfolio of warm leads ready to convert into long-term partnerships.
What You'll Do
Drive B2B sales and business development with supplement brands and contract manufacturers (CMOs/CDMOs) across the DACH region and beyond.
Convert inbound and outbound leads into long-term commercial partnerships through consultative, science-led selling.
Serve as the technical liaison between customers and the internal lab/R&D team — translating customer formulation needs into product solutions.
Manage and grow key accounts; develop and maintain a structured sales pipeline using CRM tools.
Represent the company at industry trade shows, conferences, and customer visits (travel required).
Contribute to commercial strategy and go-to-market development as an early sales hire in a scaling startup.
What We're Looking For
Required:
Degree in a natural science or technical field — e.g. food technology, nutritional science, pharmacy, biotechnology, chemistry, or business with a life science focus — or equivalent qualification.
2–4 years of B2B sales, key account management, or business development experience in the ingredients, supplement, or pharma industry.
Strong technical/scientific background or proven track record selling technical products.
Fluent in English; German is a strong plus given the DACH market focus.
Excellent consultative selling and relationship-building skills.
Willingness to travel regularly for customer meetings and events.
Nice to Have:
Experience in a startup or scale-up environment.
Hands-on CRM experience (e.g. HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar).
Existing network within nutraceutical, food ingredient, or pharma raw material sectors.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: €60,000 – €80,000 annually (depending on experience).
Early-stage equity/participation opportunity in a well-funded, growing company (Seed round backed by specialist agri-food and life science investors).
Opportunity to shape the commercial function from the ground up.
Direct collaboration with founders and the core scientific team.
Location
On-site — Regensburg, Germany.
No visa sponsorship available.
