About the role
MEP Manager - QA/QC for Data Centers
Brasfield & Gorrie is seeking an experienced MEP Manager to serve as the QA/QC Manager for Data Centers. This critical role involves the development, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive quality assurance and quality control processes throughout the design, construction, and commissioning phases of data center projects. The goal is to ensure all work adheres to project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, ultimately delivering high-quality, reliable, and safe data center infrastructure.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Review contract documents, providing suggestions and recommendations related to MEP trades.
- Examine MEP, OFCI submittals, and shop drawings to ensure alignment with project drawings and specifications.
- Collaborate with the Scheduling department on MEP installation flow and durations.
- Implement Brasfield & Gorrie’s Commissioning (Cx) process across all project levels (Level 1 to Level 5).
- Manage equipment quality, including review of specifications, submittals, FWT, freight/logistics, protection, installation, startup, and commissioning.
- Oversee the project's Commissioning Software (CxAlloy), from checklist completion to issue management.
- Review and approve Method of Procedures (MOPS) for Energizations, Tie-ins, Fill and Flush, etc.
- Review project documents pertaining to installation and equipment, such as Torque, Testing, and Startup Reports.
- Coordinate and lead equipment walk-downs to inspect and sign off for Energizations.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action processes to resolve quality issues.
- Conduct FOK (Field Operational Checks) inspections to ensure quality and consistency across installations.
- Foster positive working relationships with project design and construction teams, both internal and external to the client organization.
- Supervise, develop, and mentor project staff, where applicable.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Construction/MEP Coordination/QA-QC/Commissioning Management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering is preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and low-voltage systems.
- General understanding of Building Codes, Mechanical Codes, Electrical Codes, and Plumbing Codes relevant to construction.
- Strong experience in professionally managing relationships with owner representatives, architects, engineers, and clients.
- Supervising subcontractors and vendors is a priority.
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with commissioning large-scale Mission Critical jobs is considered an asset.
