What you need

  • 2+ years of experience in the marine industry as an application engineer, proposal engineer, design engineer, or similar role
  • Strong understanding of marine electrical architectures, including diesel-electric systems, fully electric propulsion, and high-voltage DC power distribution
  • Functional knowledge of energy storage systems (ESS), switchgear, power electronics, and power management systems
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create electrical single-line diagrams, system block diagrams, and complex spreadsheets
  • Basic proficiency with CAD software (such as NX or SolidWorks) for conceptual layouts and footprint planning
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to confidently own pricing models and margin outcomes

Nice to have

  • Firsthand experience working on commercial vessels (tugs, ferries) or defense vessels, particularly those with electric propulsion
  • Deep experience with high-voltage battery systems and their associated safety requirements
  • Familiarity with marine classification society rules and regulatory standards (e.g., ABS, DNV, USCG, IEEE 45)
  • Experience conceptualizing or guiding the creation of computational tools (e.g., in Excel, Matlab, or Python) for system sizing
  • Familiarity with fluid/thermal cooling systems, sufficient to understand and utilize internal thermal sizing calculators for power electronics

What you get

  • Base salary of $145,000 annually
  • Highly competitive equity grants
  • Semi-annual bonuses tied to impact
  • 99% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision healthcare benefits
  • 14 weeks fully paid parental leave for birthing and non-birthing parents
  • Highly competitive PTO with an opportunity to earn more time with tenure

Worth weighing

  • The role requires a strong understanding of complex marine electrical systems, which may involve a steep learning curve for those not already familiar with the marine industry.
  • The position is full-time and on-site, which may not suit candidates looking for remote work options.
  • The job involves a fast-paced environment, which may not be ideal for everyone.
  • The requirement to be a 'U.S. person' may limit the applicant pool.
