About the role
Structural Superintendent
Structure Tone, part of the STO Building Group, is seeking a Structural Superintendent in New York City, NY.
Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To
- Lead and supervise day-to-day structural construction activities, including steel, concrete, framing, rebar, formwork, precast, or other structural scopes as applicable.
- Plan and coordinate workforce, subcontractors, equipment, and materials to maintain project progress and meet milestones.
- Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and work plans to ensure field execution aligns with contract requirements.
- Enforce site safety policies, conduct toolbox talks, identify hazards, and promote a strong safety culture.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure all structural work meets quality standards, code requirements, and inspection criteria.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, foremen, subcontractors, and inspectors to resolve field issues quickly and effectively.
- Track daily progress, manpower, production rates, delays, and site conditions; prepare and maintain field reports and documentation.
- Identify and mitigate schedule risks, sequencing conflicts, and constructability issues.
- Verify that materials and equipment are delivered, stored, and used properly.
- Support project scheduling by looking ahead, planning upcoming work, and adjusting resources as needed.
- Participate in inspections, punch lists, and turnover activities.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, company, client, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree or construction-related degree preferred.
- 10+ years of construction supervision experience, with significant experience in structural work.
- Strong knowledge of structural construction methods, drawings, specifications, and applicable building codes.
- Experience managing field crews, subcontractors, and multiple work activities on active job sites.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and project schedules.
- Solid understanding of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
- Proficiency with daily reporting, scheduling coordination, and basic construction software tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage shifting priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on commercial, industrial, civil, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- NYC DOB License
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar construction management tools.
