Job Title: Entry Level Structural Engineer

DLR Group is an integrated design firm dedicated to elevating the human experience through design. We are seeking an Entry Level Structural Engineer to join our Renewable Energy division in Austin, Texas. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful projects in the renewable energy sector within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Position Summary

As an Entry Level Structural Engineer, you will be integral to the design process of structural systems for renewable energy projects. You will work on projects from the schematic design phase through construction administration, preparing detailed structural engineering drawings and performing necessary design calculations. Your work will directly contribute to designing structural systems for renewable energy projects, helping to reduce our planet’s carbon footprint.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing project objectives, goals, and documentation policies.
  • Develop structural designs from concept through completion of construction.
  • Prepare engineering design calculations and layouts.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports and narratives.
  • Coordinate structural design requirements with other disciplines and project stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (ABET accredited) in Civil/Structural or Architectural/Structural Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural or Architectural/Structural Engineering.
  • Previous internship, co-op experience, or full-time position with a consulting engineering or A/E firm.
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
  • Experience with BIM (e.g. Autodesk Revit Structural) workflow.
  • Interest in renewable energy design, including photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), EV charging stations, solar canopies, microgrids, and specialty energy systems.
  • Working knowledge of current structural software (ETABS, SAP, SAFE, RAM, ADAPT, RISA, Enercalc).
