Area Controller - Multiple Dealerships
Join one of the nation’s leading automotive groups and help drive operational excellence across multiple dealership locations. We are seeking an experienced Area Controller to support three dealerships by providing financial leadership, operational partnership, and oversight of dealership accounting and business office operations.
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for partnering with General Managers and executive leadership to support business performance, maintain strong financial controls, develop teams, and help ensure operational consistency across multiple rooftops. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and solutions-oriented leader with strong dealership accounting experience, excellent business acumen, and a passion for developing people and processes.
What You Will Do
- Partner with General Managers and dealership leadership teams to support the development and execution of financial and operational strategies.
- Oversee day-to-day dealership accounting and business office operations across multiple locations.
- Lead, coach, and develop business office employees while fostering a collaborative, team-oriented, and solutions-focused environment.
- Maintain oversight of dealership general ledgers, identify issues or discrepancies, conduct investigations, and report findings to executive leadership.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes.
- Partner with Executive and Accounting leadership on the creation, tracking, and ongoing management of Prefixed business plans.
- Understand and communicate how business plans impact operational decisions, compensation structures, and pay plans.
- Participate in the development and administration of pay plans to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment with business objectives.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with Company policies, internal controls, and accounting procedures.
- Maintain a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations impacting dealership operations.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of accounting and office personnel.
- Assist in supporting and maintaining the Fletcher Jones brand standards and operational excellence initiatives across all dealerships.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
What We Are Looking For
- Automotive dealership accounting leadership experience required.
- Multi-rooftop or group-level dealership experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of dealership financial statements, accounting processes, schedules, and internal controls.
- Experience leading dealership business office operations and developing accounting staff.
- Ability to identify operational or financial issues, investigate root causes, and implement solutions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines across assigned dealerships.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to partner effectively with dealership leadership teams.
- Experience with dealership management system CDK.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial reporting skills preferred.
