Apprentice Electrician
Boulder County Public Works Department is seeking to hire an Apprentice Electrician. This is an entry-level role within the Electrician series, involving both unskilled and skilled electrical tasks in the construction, remodel, and maintenance of buildings and facilities.
Position Details
- Full-time, benefited position
- Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
- Location: 2525 13th St., Boulder, Colorado
- Non-exempt (eligible for overtime)
- Requirement: Employees must reside in the state of Colorado by their first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range
$60,840.00 - $74,178.00 Annually

Examples of Duties
- Perform routine electrical work on construction and remodel projects, including installing conduit, boxes, motors, receptacles, switches, and pulling cables.
- Assist in installing and maintaining electrical systems like security, fire alarm, energy management, card access, and computer/telephone systems.
- Conduct electrical demolition, removing old wiring and equipment.
- Respond to work orders for electrical repairs and installations.
- May schedule work and estimate time/materials.
- Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
- Maintain work records and material receipts.
- Perform related duties and may be reassigned in emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of electrical experience (additional relevant education may count).
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass a background investigation with fingerprinting and a pre-employment physical.

- 2 years of commercial electrical experience.
- 2 years of trade school education.

- Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods in various weather conditions.

Physical Requirements
This role involves significant physical demands, including constant lifting of 1-30 lbs., frequent lifting of 30-80 lbs. (up to shoulder height), occasional heavier lifts with assistance, and pushing/pulling. Requires strength and dexterity in hands and arms for tool use, working in various positions (standing, kneeling, lying down), and frequent climbing while carrying tools. Occasional work in inclement weather is also expected.
