About the role
Apprentice Electrician - Boulder County Public Works
Boulder County Public Works Department is seeking to hire an Apprentice Electrician. This is an entry-level position in the Electrician series, involving a variety of unskilled and skilled electrical duties in the construction, remodel, and maintenance of buildings and facilities.
Position Details
This is a full-time, benefited position working Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm. The position is based at 2525 13th St., Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime. Boulder County requires employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of their first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range
$60,840.00 - $74,178.00 Annually

Benefits

Examples of Duties
- Performs routine electrical work on construction and remodel projects, including installing conduit, electrical boxes, motors, receptacles, switches, and pulling cables.
- Assists in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems such as security and fire alarm systems, energy management systems, card access systems, and computer/telephone systems.
- Performs electrical demolition, including removing old wiring and electrical equipment.
- Responds to work orders for electrical repairs and installations.
- May schedule work and estimate time and materials.
- Operates and maintains a variety of hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
- Maintains work records and material receipts.
- Performs related work as required.
- May be reassigned in emergency situations.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of electrical experience (additional relevant education may count towards experience).
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

- Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods and in all weather conditions.

Physical Requirements
- Back and Upper Body: Constantly lift 1-30 lbs (floor to waist), frequently lift 30-80 lbs (floor to shoulder), occasionally lift over 80 lbs (with co-workers). Occasional push/pull of 100 lbs force.
- Hands and Arms: Strength and dexterity for constant use of all tools; frequent work with arms overhead, extended, or while kneeling. Occasional disassembly/assembly of parts on work surfaces or ground level.
- Body Movement: Constantly stand, kneel, or lie on concrete; work in unusual positions. Frequently climb while carrying tools/parts (1-30 lbs). Occasionally work outdoors in inclement weather.
