About This Opportunity
We're hiring a mid-level fullstack engineer (3+ years of experience) to own features end-to-end across our Django backend and React/TypeScript web apps. You'll partner with product, design, data science, and other engineers on work that ships to real renters, landlords, and large multifamily operators.
This role reports to our Sr. Engineering Manager.
What You'll Do
- Ship customer-facing features end-to-end: schema and API work in Django, React/TypeScript UI, tests, and rollout
- Pair with product managers on scoping and tradeoffs. We expect engineers to push back on requirements, not just implement them
- Pick up code review duty on your team's PRs and contribute to technical design discussions
- Develop with AI coding tools as a daily part of your workflow, and contribute to a homegrown AI agent platform that engineers actively extend
- Share responsibility for production reliability by participating in the team's on-call rotation
What You'll Work With
- Backend: Python, Django, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL, REST/JSON APIs serving web and native clients
- Frontend: React, Redux, TypeScript, server-side rendering
- Mobile: Kotlin with Jetpack Compose, Swift with SwiftUI
- Services & platform: Node.js services, AWS (EC2, S3, SQS, SES), Fastly, Nomad, Grafana
- Workflow: Git, CI/CD, code review on every change, automated testing
Who You Are
- 3+ years of professional fullstack experience shipping production code
- Fluency with Git, CI/CD, and writing tests as part of the development loop
- Active daily use of AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or equivalent) as a core part of your workflow
- Working experience with Python and Django, comfortable with ORM modeling, REST API design, and writing efficient Postgres queries
- Working experience with React and TypeScript, comfortable with component architecture, state management, and browser performance basics
- Prior experience participating in an on-call rotation for a production service, comfortable triaging incidents, paging in help when needed, and writing follow-up postmortems
- Clear written communication skills (to work most effectively in a fully remote environment)
Bonus Skills
- Experience with marketplace, two-sided, or proptech products
- Production experience with AWS or another major cloud provider
- Node.js services experience
- Track record of contributing to RFCs, design docs, or technical proposals
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or running code reviews as a teaching moment
