Job Description

What You Can Expect as a Web Designer at Zoom

The ideal Web Designer candidate brings a passion for crafting interactive web-based product experiences, particularly within dynamic subscription-driven SaaS environments. This role is pivotal in creating intuitive, scalable web solutions that enhance customer acquisition, streamline onboarding, simplify account management, and optimize the entire subscription lifecycle across both desktop and mobile platforms.

You will work in close collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Growth teams, consistently delivering thoughtful, high-quality design solutions. The fast-paced environment requires the ability to meet tight timelines while effectively incorporating feedback from diverse cross-functional stakeholders.

About The Design Team

The Design team is focused on web-based product experiences and managing subscription journeys throughout our comprehensive digital ecosystem. Our mission is to design and optimize critical touchpoints across the Small and Medium Business (SMB) customer lifecycle, including crucial stages like plan selection, user onboarding, account management, billing processes, plan upgrades/downgrades, and renewals.

We leverage robust data-driven methodologies and insightful behavioral analytics to continually improve usability, engagement, and long-term customer value across our entire web platform.

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex user pain points and business requirements into clear, functional web experiences within a subscription-based SaaS environment.
  • Contribute significantly to the design of interactive user flows, including onboarding, billing, plan upgrades/downgrades, and comprehensive account management.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of system states, various edge cases, and backend-driven constraints inherent in web-based product experiences.
  • Conduct basic user research and perform usability testing, supported by guidance from senior team members.
  • Communicate design rationale with clarity, articulating precisely how interaction decisions align with user needs and achieve desired business outcomes.
  • Apply established design systems (PRISM and platform standards) consistently, while also contributing thoughtful and impactful improvements when opportunities arise.
  • Adopt a holistic perspective on the end-to-end SMB journey, encompassing acquisition, activation, retention, and subscription management.

What We’re Looking For

  • Foundational experience designing interactive web applications, not limited to static marketing pages.
  • Comprehensive understanding of subscription-based business models and the entire SaaS customer lifecycle (e.g., onboarding, billing, plan management, renewals).
  • Proficiency in interaction design principles specifically for complex, state-driven product experiences.
  • Familiarity with system-driven UI patterns, including loading states, robust error handling, permission management, and various data states.
  • Technical understanding of front-end and back-end collaboration, including feasibility and implementation considerations.
  • Practical experience working with established design systems and scalable component architectures.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, covering accessibility, information hierarchy, and visual precision.
  • Adaptability to balance speed and quality effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
  • A user-focused mindset with a strong awareness of SMB personas and their unique business workflows.
