About The Team

Zillow’s Experimentation Platform team (ZEXP) enables self-service experimentation across the company. We build and maintain the platform driving A/B testing for customer-facing experiences, backend services, and AI. Our diverse clientele includes Product, Engineering, and Data Science professionals. Our cross-functional team comprises software developers, data engineers, and data scientists, engaging in work from backend systems and data pipelines to user front ends and analytical approaches for experimentation. Beyond the platform, we champion Zillow’s company-wide experimentation culture. We are part of the Core Data Tech and Platform Engineering organization, responsible for Zillow’s production and data infrastructure.

About The Role

As the engineering leader for the ZEXP team, you will significantly modernize and accelerate Zillow’s experimentation program. This role offers a unique opportunity to boost product velocity and enhance our ability to derive actionable insights from experiments. You will closely collaborate with Product and other Zillow Group teams, leading a team of software development engineers, data engineers, and data scientists. Your responsibilities include fostering career development within your team, integrating new features and tooling with data science and engineering teams, and partnering with product management to prioritize work and ensure partner obligations are met. You will also play a crucial role in shaping, communicating, and executing the long-term experimentation vision.

Additionally, with Zillow’s investment in building out our Mexico-based team, you will have the opportunity to serve as a mentor and leader to the broader set of Mexico-based employees within the Core Data Tech and Platform Engineering team, extending beyond your immediate ZEXP leadership role.

This is a Remote position, meaning employees work from a physical location of their choice within the 50 United States, with limited exceptions. This position offers a competitive base salary, benefits, and is eligible for equity awards based on experience, performance, and location.

• Degree in an engineering, science, or related discipline
• 8+ years of management experience

• Willingness to engage in details on both software and science topics when appropriate

• Prior experience with experimentation
• Experience managing large-scale software platform with disparate stakeholders
• Proficiency in Python and modern data technologies such as Spark
