About the Role
The Principal Data Scientist at Zillow works within the Rentals Marketplace Ads team, strategically analyzing and optimizing Zillow’s Rentals product performance. This role involves collaborating with product, strategy, engineering, sales, and marketing teams to derive actionable insights from large datasets, mentor junior data scientists, and communicate findings effectively.
Responsibilities
- Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends and insights.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define metrics and strategies.
- Design and execute experiments including A/B testing and causal inference.
- Mentor junior team members and ensure high analytic standards.
- Work with cross-functional teams to support decision-making.
- Partner with data engineering to optimize data pipelines.
- Communicate analytical findings in clear, actionable terms.
- Utilize diverse internal and external data sources effectively.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Master’s in a quantitative field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in quantitative analysis and problem-solving.
- Strong grasp of statistics, measurement methods, A/B testing, and time series analysis.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Excel; Tableau or similar visualization tool experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working cross-functionally with various teams.
- Understanding of online products and digital marketplaces.
- Ability to influence stakeholders with data-driven goals.
