About the Solutions Consultant - Pre Sales Role at Zendesk

The Solutions Consultant is a pivotal role, responsible for all technical, solution, and competitive aspects within the Zendesk sales cycle. This position demands a blend of sales acumen and technical prowess, requiring the ability to effectively communicate with executives and convince C-level and director-level leaders of the technical merits of our software solutions. You will work closely with Sales, Marketing, Product Managers, and other cross-functional teams, serving as the technical bridge between our Sales team and prospective clients. A key responsibility is to take ownership of the primary technical relationship with prospects, proactively managing and delivering technical information both onsite and virtually to ensure high customer satisfaction.

Requirements for Success

  • 3+ years of Presales experience.
  • Strong knowledge of web / scripting technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, and SaaS applications.
  • Proven experience mapping RFI/RFP requirements to software solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, persuasion, presentation, and writing skills.
  • Experience in scoping, managing, and executing customer pilots and Proof of Concepts.
  • Solid understanding of SaaS Business applications.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following areas: Customer Service Software, ITSM, Data warehousing, Business intelligence, Workforce Management, QA, Integration & middleware, AI &/or Bots.
  • Understanding and awareness of how AI impacts the customer service business, as well as AI Technologies such as LLM and ChatGPT.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills, including the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Exceptional solution scoping abilities, leveraging existing solutions and influencing new product development.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required; a graduate degree is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel (1-2 times per month).
  • Demonstrable passion, strong people skills, and the ability to work independently on multiple projects.

  • Previous consulting experience implementing enterprise-class software solutions.
  • Domain expertise in specific industries.
  • Awareness of CCaaS and peripheral technologies.
  • Experience in moderating Design-Based Thinking sessions.
  • Ability to develop reference architecture in support of client solutions.
