Working with Account or Channel Management, the Government Sales Engineer Associate assists in developing and executing technology strategy. Designs solutions that meet customer needs and beat competition. Develops strong relationships with sales team, internal engineering, and key technical customer contacts and leverages to Zebra's advantage; creates and delivers high impact solution presentations.

Expected travel – 50% ideally located in South Central or Northeast area.

Responsibilities

The Government Sales Engineer Associate will utilize moderate domain and solutions knowledge, along with a solid understanding of all Zebra products and services. They will apply Solution Selling concepts to customer situations, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The role requires an understanding of policies and practices, with an ability to share ideas for improvement.

This position demands business acumen to explain how Zebra solutions can enhance customer business results and to achieve profitable revenue growth through value proposition against competitors. Full knowledge of customer's business, market economics, and trends is crucial for effective positioning.

The role involves solving routine problems of moderate complexity, such as verifying technical compatibility, at the customer level. The associate will understand and resolve problems with support from technical resources, often managing medium-complexity solutions, potentially involving complex projects requiring unique coordination of technical resources.

Working under general supervision, the Government Sales Engineer Associate makes decisions of moderate complexity that impact project deliverables, exercising judgment in approach and assessing tradeoffs. The role acts independently, interacting with buyers/decision makers for small to mid-sized deals and end users, and is responsible for influencing customers to purchase small to moderate size projects. Required knowledge includes operational strategies for success and understanding competitors.

Accountability includes individual revenue attainment with established prices and personal expenses, with a moderate to average individual quota size. The role involves many transactions with some moderately complex deals, carrying a medium/mid-term strategic impact for Zebra.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience within a related technical role (Sales Engineer) 0+ years
  • 50% Travel expected
  • Resides ideally in South Central or Northeast areas of the US

  • Excellent presentation/communication skills
  • Experience working in the government space
  • Working in a customer-facing environment
  • Sales and technically savvy, with strong customer facing skills pertaining to driving new & innovative solutions and facilitating problem resolution
