Python Backend Engineer - Remote
YO IT Consulting is seeking experienced Software Engineers to contribute to the training and evaluation of next-generation AI systems. This remote role is ideal for developers with strong software engineering judgment, clear technical communication skills, and the ability to solve complex backend, full-stack, systems, or infrastructure problems, even in unfamiliar codebases. No prior AI experience is necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in challenging software engineering tasks across backend, full-stack, infrastructure, and systems projects.
- Review, debug, enhance, and explain code within diverse technical landscapes.
- Design and evaluate practical solutions involving APIs, databases, services, integrations, testing, and deployment workflows.
- Identify and analyze tradeoffs concerning scalability, maintainability, performance, reliability, security, and developer experience.
- Articulate technical reasoning and decision-making clearly in written form, including justifications and alternative considerations.
- Collaborate with client teams on technical reviews, implementation strategies, and problem-solving initiatives.
- Demonstrate agility in adapting to new codebases, frameworks, and technical specifications.
Required Skills And Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in at least one backend or full-stack environment, including but not limited to Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Java, C#, .NET, C++, Go, Ruby, PHP, or similar.
- Proven experience in building, maintaining, or reviewing production-level applications, APIs, services, databases, or integrations.
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals: debugging, testing, code quality, architecture, and technical tradeoffs.
- Exceptional ability to articulate complex engineering decisions with clarity and objectivity.
- Comfort and capability in analyzing unfamiliar code and technical requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, containerization, monitoring, or production operations.
- Experience with frontend frameworks like React, Next.js, Angular, Vue, or React Native.
- Contributions to open-source projects, active GitHub presence, technical writing, or demonstrable past engineering achievements.
- Experience in mentoring junior engineers, conducting code reviews, or making architectural decisions.
