Overview
The YMCA of Greater Seattle is committed to equity, social justice, and removing systemic barriers. At the Social Impact Center Y, the Employment Specialist will work with unstably housed young adults (ages 18-24) to build job readiness, secure stable housing, and obtain employment.
Job Summary
This role involves conducting assessments, providing job training workshops, and assisting young adults with internship placements, job placements, retention, and wage progression. The specialist also supports clients with necessary resources such as clothing and transportation, maintains records, and collaborates with the YMCA Housing Programs and community partners.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized services in education, employment, housing, and technology.
- Develop individualized, strengths-based service plans.
- Maintain clear participant records and document outcomes.
- Teach life skills and job readiness through group and individual sessions.
- Collaborate with YMCA staff, community partners, and employers.
- Assist with program coordination and participate in fundraising campaigns.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field required (Master's preferred). Experience with youth or young adults in employment, foster care, housing, education, or related fields is essential. Must possess strong engagement, communication, and computer skills. A valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and relevant certifications (First Aid, CPR, HIV blood borne pathogens training) are also required.
