About the Role
As the Engineering Director - Compute Platform at Yelp, you will lead globally distributed teams across North America and Europe. You will shape technical strategy in compute infrastructure and cloud economics, ensuring reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency. This role empowers teams building Yelp’s integrated compute platform, including managing the evolution of Yelp’s Kubernetes-based PaaSTA platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor geographically distributed engineering teams.
- Drive strategy and vision for the compute platform.
- Oversee and evolve the PaaSTA (Kubernetes-based) platform.
- Foster collaboration and a unified developer experience.
- Champion best practices in observability, incident response, and SRE.
- Build and sustain an inclusive, high-performing team culture.
What It Takes To Succeed
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Deep experience with building and scaling cloud infrastructure at scale.
- Proven ability to lead globally distributed teams.
- Strong background in cost optimization, reliability, and observability.
- Solid grasp of incident response, SRE principles, and production operations.
What You'll Get
Competitive compensation ranging from $217,000 to $310,000 annually, bonus opportunities, restricted stock units and benefits. This role is fully remote in Canada.
