Who We’re Looking For

The Senior Design Manager, Yahoo News is an experienced leader with a track record of driving innovative, user-centric design across digital media. You will inspire a talented team, partner with cross-functional groups, and drive cohesive design for Yahoo News platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a team of product designers.
  • Collaborate with Central Design and brand teams for unified visual language.
  • Champion user-centered design through research and data insights.
  • Maintain high standards for visual and interaction design.
  • Balance business needs, user needs, and technical feasibility.
  • Foster creativity, ownership, and professional development within the team.
  • Define and track key design metrics and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Explore and integrate AI design tools and features.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in product design with 5+ years in leadership.
  • Proven experience in building and scaling design teams.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating visual design excellence and user-centered practices.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
  • Empathy-driven leadership style.
  • Experience with AI-augmented product feature design.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation ranges from $143,625 to $299,375 per year, with additional incentive opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, 401k, backup childcare, education stipends, and more.
