Dockworker Hostler

Overview

The Dockworker Hostler at XPO plays a key role in moving trailers, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring the efficient loading and unloading of freight. Applicants must be 18 or older, hold a valid driver's license, and meet physical requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old
• Valid driver’s license
• Basic math skills
• Pass a physical pre-hire test
• Availability for varied shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with tractor/trailer combinations including 3 axle tractor and 53' trailer
• Warehouse/dock experience in transportation
• Forklift operational experience
• Experience with loading and unloading trailers
• Basic communication skills and strong attention to detail

Compensation and Benefits

Experienced forklift operators can start at $28.97/hour. Additional benefits include full health insurance starting day one, life and disability insurance, up to 13 days PTO in the first year, 9 paid company holidays, a 401(k) match, an employee stock purchase plan, and education assistance.

Key Responsibilities

• Move trailers across the property using motorized and manual equipment.
• Efficiently load freight at least one day per week.
• Operate a hostler in various weather conditions and extended periods on foot.
• Safely operate heavy equipment including dolly connections and using handheld devices for shipment tracking.
• Lift objects frequently up to 50 lbs and occasionally over 70 lbs.

Work Environment

This role involves working on a non-climate-controlled dock which can be slippery and requires standing and walking for extended periods.
