Position Summary
The Design Automation Specialist is an integral member of both the Design Automation and Xerxes Engineering teams. In this role, you will develop online product configurators and internal drawing-automation workflows that enable customers and CAD designers to efficiently specify Xerxes underground storage tanks and generate accurate sales drawings. You will primarily work with SolidWorks and DriveWorks, leveraging these tools to build scalable, rules-driven automation that improves design consistency, reduces manual effort, and accelerates the quote-to-order process. The position requires a strong understanding of parametric modelling, configuration logic, and the ability to translate engineering requirements into automated design solutions.
Duties & Accountabilities
- Build design automation tools utilizing SolidWorks and Driveworks. Key competencies include, SolidWorks mastery of parametric and assembly modelling, design tables and configurations, drawing creation and standards, customer properties and metadata. DriveWorks experience with rule building, syntax, logic functions, project architecture, form a UI design, integration with SolidWorks models. SolidWorks macro, API, debugging experience is beneficial.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Marketing, IT, and Sales to ensure project requirements are gathered and executed.
- Manage project documentation, working with the project management office to plan and report work.
- Train design and sales groups on tool functions.
Knowledge and Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g.: Mechanical Engineering Technician) is an asset. Equivalent coursework, or credentials may be equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience or previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is required.
- Customer service oriented, multi-tasker, ability to influence/build trust, problem-solving.
- Knowledge in Web development, UI design, SolidWorks with modeling is an asset.
- Both Strong DriveWorks and SolidWorks experience is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Problem solving skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with different levels of a business from engineers to design group employees.
- Detail-oriented and able to work under minimal supervision.
- Safety conscious at and away from work.
- This is a hybrid role (3 remote days, 2 office days). These days are flexible.
Safety
- Maintain a safe working environment by aligning with corporate safety rules and regulations, and ensuring a culture of safety.
- Ensure that the equipment and process operate efficiently and safely.
- Provide support to the generation of HAA and SOP.
- Cooperate with their employer for the purposes of protecting the health and safety of themselves as well as other workers either engaged or at the work site where the work is being carried out.
Compensation
This hybrid role offers an annual compensation of $80,000 - $90,000 CAD, reflecting Mattr's commitment to competitive rewards.
