Job Description
About WunderGraph
WunderGraph was founded to solve a problem developers (and not just) experience daily: managing, integrating, and making APIs accessible to large audiences is difficult, and evolving them is even more so. In an era where AI and LLMs are rapidly advancing, having an organized API strategy is crucial for organizations to be AI-ready.
With over $10M in funding from Karma Ventures, Aspenwood, and eBay Ventures, WunderGraph is well-positioned to deliver on its mission: to create a single platform for designing, building, and innovating on APIs that serve as the backbone of every modern business. Money, goods, and services are exchanged in real-time through APIs, underpinning our society's need for fast data exchange and integrations.
The culture we are building together is extremely important to us. We invite everyone to understand our Core Beliefs. If you want to make an impact, have your voice heard, and work in a no-BS organization where you can get stuff done, look no further and apply today.
About the Role: Senior Solutions Engineer
You are a technical expert who thrives at the intersection of technology and business value. Whether it's architecting a complex API integration, running a compelling demo, or designing a proof-of-concept that impresses engineers, you've mastered the art of turning technical complexity into customer confidence. You love the challenge of greenfield opportunities and building something from the ground up.
This isn't your typical Solutions Architect role. As the first-to-function, you're at the front lines of WunderGraph's go-to-market motion. You're the technical voice that helps potential clients see what's possible, the trusted advisor who guides them from "interesting idea" to "let's build this," and the bridge between our product and our customers' real-world challenges.
You know how to navigate technical stakeholders from senior engineers to CTOs, selling on value and building credibility across complex evaluation cycles. You can balance technical demos with POC implementations and requirements gathering with competitive positioning. You can write code when needed, review architectures with confidence, and explain API federation to a developer or a VP of Engineering with equal clarity. Most importantly, you care deeply about the customer, their technical challenges, and how WunderGraph can uniquely solve them.
Role Objectives
- Demonstrate ownership and drive the pre-sales function forward.
- Enable the sales team to consistently hit and exceed revenue targets through exceptional technical support.
- Ensure technical evaluations run smoothly: POCs demonstrate clear value, objections are handled with confidence, and prospects are excited about what they can build.
- Build trusted, engineer-to-engineer relationships where customers see you as their advocate, not just a vendor.
- Ensure Product and Engineering teams benefit from your customer insights: feature requests are well-documented, competitive intelligence is flowing, and you're shaping the roadmap.
- Establish predictable conversion from evaluation to purchase, with repeatable patterns you've helped create.
- Ensure our demo environment, reference architectures, and technical collateral reflect your contributions and accelerate deals.
- Represent WunderGraph with technical credibility that instills confidence in prospects.
- Follow the client’s journey post-sales to ensure solutions support their adoption and identify opportunities for additional value.
Role Requirements
- Proven senior experience in a Pre-Sales Architecture, Sales Engineering, or similar customer-facing technical role at a B2B SaaS company (developer tools, API platforms, or infrastructure products strongly preferred).
- Proven track record of supporting deals $100K+ with mid-market or enterprise technical buyers.
- Strong hands-on technical background: you can write code, build prototypes, review architectures, and debug issues. Comfort with TypeScript, Node.js, Go, or similar backend technologies is a plus.
- Deep experience with modern API technologies and distributed systems architecture.
- Solid understanding of cloud-native development (Kubernetes, Docker, containers, CI/CD, microservices).
- Exceptional communication skills: you're clear, confident, and credible whether talking to a senior engineer or a CTO.
- Experience working closely with sales teams, understanding deal cycles, and contributing to revenue outcomes.
- You're organized, detail-oriented, and can manage multiple customer engagements simultaneously without dropping the ball.
- You're energized by early-stage environments, comfortable with ambiguity, and excited to build processes where none exist.
- Bonus: Experience with GraphQL, federated graphs, or API composition.
Team Integration
- You report to the VP of Sales with close collaboration with the CEO and CTO.
- You collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to communicate customer feedback, influence the roadmap, and contribute to platform improvements.
- You act as a bridge between customer technical needs and product value delivery.
- You help shape and scale the pre-sales function alongside leadership.
Why WunderGraph?
- Work from wherever you thrive—we're fully remote and globally distributed. If you're in New York City, come work with us in person! We also provide co-working space options worldwide if needed.
- Pick your preferred work hardware.
- Discretionary PTO—take the time you need to recharge.
- Competitive compensation.
- Healthcare, dental, and vision cover for United States team members.
- Team retreats across the globe.
- The opportunity to shape the pre-sales function as our first Solutions Architect.
Note: This is a full-time, fully remote position. We're prioritizing candidates based in the US-EST timezone.
The Process

- Technical discussion with the hiring manager—we'll dive into your experience and might give you a small take-home assignment.
- Assignment review and deeper technical conversation.
- Meet the founders.
- Culture fit call with team members.
- Offer.
We aim to respond with feedback within 2-3 days between each stage. We hire through Deel as our Employer of Record, except for Germany or the United States where we hire directly.
