The Opportunity

As an experienced Environmental Planning Project Manager at WSP, you will lead small and medium scale environmental impact assessment and permitting projects across multiple sectors including renewable energy, transmission, transportation, infrastructure, mining, and oil & gas in Ontario and throughout Canada. You will collaborate with technical teams to deliver high-quality environmental consulting services, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

This role involves managing scopes for environmental and socio-economic impact assessments, environmental permitting, field investigations, desktop analyses, and research. Depending on experience and skill sets, you may also manage scopes for construction and post-construction environmental monitoring.

What You Can Expect to Do Here

  • Manage environmental impact assessment and permitting projects through all phases.
  • Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, and quality, with regular project status updates.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate various project risks including financial, environmental, H&S, and regulatory risks.
  • Ensure rigorous project documentation, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance using tools like SharePoint.
  • Maintain health and safety on projects by ensuring client H&S requirement compliance and active incident management.
  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations with proper permits and approvals.
  • Evaluate proposals, prepare work scopes, budgets, and schedules and review deliverables from technical teams.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and safety-conscious work environment.
  • Promote continuous improvement and innovation.

What You Will Bring to WSP

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Environmental Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant project management experience.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Oracle, MS Project, and Primavera.
  • Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams including specialists, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of federal and Ontario provincial environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A commitment to health & safety best practices.
