Principal Engineer - Building Technology Systems

WSP in India is seeking a Principal Engineer - Building Technology Systems to lead the design and engineering of advanced building technology solutions.

Job Description

Design and engineer building technology systems, including ICT, Audio-Visual, Security, Home Automation, and Guest room management systems. Collaborate with project leads, architects, and other engineers to integrate technology systems within new and existing buildings. Create detailed technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for building technology projects. Evaluate and select appropriate technology solutions and vendors to achieve project goals. Stay updated with industry trends, codes, and regulations related to building technology systems.

Responsibilities

ICT

• Any BICSI certification
• Fibre distribution design for outside plant and in-building
• Passive Network design in building, outside plant and master plan level
• Digital infrastructure design
• Rack layout design with cable management expertise
• Active network design and optimization with strong understanding of QoS, Redundancy, resilience and network optimization for time critical applications
• WiFi Heat map (design experience)
• Control room and Data center rack design with understanding of Uptime Institute requirements
• CAD, 3D Revit, Sketch-up, Smart spaces integration
• Exposure to Hospitality sector design, retail design, master planning detailed design. Desirable - ports, airports and industrial

Security Systems

• Familiar with Middle-East local security standards for UAE, Saudi, and Qatar
• CCTV design for indoor and outdoor applications, generation of Field of View drawings
• CCTV design at master plan level and detailed infrastructure design
• Understanding of MoI requirements with experience in approvals for MoI packages
• Electronic Security (VSS, ACS, Intrusion Detection, Intercom, Vehicle HVM barriers)
• Security control room and equipment room design
• Security IP network design with cable management, power and cooling understanding
• Desirable - Understanding of Security operations and creation of Security Operator guidelines

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (E&CE, Electrical, or related field).
• Minimum 8 years of experience in building technology systems or related field.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM).
• Strong understanding of building codes, standards, and sustainability practices.
• Middle -East project experience is desired.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Relevant certifications are a plus.
