About the role
Principal Engineer - Building Technology Systems
WSP in India is seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer to lead the design and engineering of advanced building technology systems. This role involves close collaboration with project teams to integrate cutting-edge solutions in ICT, Audio-Visual, Security, and more within diverse building projects.
Responsibilities
ICT:
- Design fibre distribution, passive, and active networks for various master plan levels.
- Develop rack layouts with cable management expertise and optimize active network performance (QoS, redundancy, resilience).
- Create WiFi heatmaps and design control rooms and data centers adhering to Uptime Institute requirements.
- Utilize CAD, 3D Revit, Sketch-up for smart spaces integration, with exposure to hospitality, retail, and master planning designs.
Security Systems:
- Design CCTV systems for indoor/outdoor applications and master plans, generating Field of View drawings.
- Understand and comply with Middle-East local security standards (UAE, Saudi, Qatar) and MoI requirements.
- Implement Electronic Security systems (VSS, ACS, Intrusion Detection, Intercom, Vehicle HVM barriers).
- Design security control rooms, equipment rooms, and IP networks with cable management, power, and cooling considerations.
- Desirable: Understanding of Security operations and creation of Security Operator guidelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (E&CE, Electrical, or related field).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in building technology systems or related field.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM).
- Strong understanding of building codes, standards, and sustainability practices.
- Middle-East project experience is desired.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Relevant certifications are a plus.
