Assistant Engineer - Hydrogeology

About the Role
As an Assistant Engineer - Hydrogeology, you will be involved in numerical analyses for engineering applications. You will work with various numerical methods and modeling codes, contribute to complex 3D geometry development, and apply data science principles to hydrogeology. Key Responsibilities
- Perform numerical analyses for engineering applications.
- Utilize understanding of numerical methods (finite difference, finite element, control volume finite element).
- Employ commercial numerical groundwater modeling codes (FEFLOW, MODFLOW, HydroGeoSphere).
- Work with visualization software (GIS, Surfer, Leapfrog, CAD).
- Develop complex 3D geometries for numerical modeling.
- Engage in parameter estimation and global optimization.
- Apply data science and analytics to hydrogeology challenges.
- Utilize scripting/programming languages like Python or VBA.
- Collaborate with a team of experts on challenging projects.
Qualifications
- Master's or PhD degree in Mathematics, Physics, Hydrogeological Sciences, or Geological / Civil / Environmental / Mining Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 4 to 9 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in numerical analyses for engineering applications.
- Understanding of numerical methods including finite difference, finite element and control volume finite element approaches.
- Proficiency in commercial numerical groundwater modelling codes (FEFLOW, MODFLOW, HydroGeoSphere, etc.) is an asset.
- Experience with visualization software (GIS, Surfer, Leapfrog, CAD, etc.).
- Experience with general-purpose scripting/programming (Python, VBA, etc.) is an asset.
- Experience in global optimization and developing complex 3D geometries for numerical modelling purposes.
- Experience with parameter estimation and global optimization software.
- Understanding of data science and analytics, and practical applications in hydrogeology.
- Direct exposure to machine learning is an asset.
- Some understanding and experience with physical hydrogeology is an asset.
- Demonstrates critical analytical and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Self-motivated, curious, well-organized, and able to work in a team environment.
