The Opportunity
Our Energy subsector supports clients from coast to coast across small installations to multi-phase integrated megaprojects in oil and gas and energy transition markets. As a Structural Engineer at WSP, you will contribute to design, engineering, and environmental services that help clients transition to low carbon solutions, protect resources, and restore biodiversity.
Role Overview
As a Structural Engineer, you will work on a range of challenging projects in the Energy division. You will be tasked with design criteria establishment, performing engineering calculations, material take offs, planning and scheduling related to project plans, and providing technical leadership to less experienced personnel. Your responsibilities include on-site inspections, detailed civil and structural designs, and ensuring quality and consistency in deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Establish design criteria and prepare engineering specifications.
- Support planning, scheduling, and cost control activities.
- Propose process improvements and optimize engineering procedures.
- Provide functional guidance, coaching, and review technical work.
- Conduct on-site inspections and review/stamp engineering drawings.
- Maintain effective relationships with clients, contractors, and team members.
Qualifications
- University degree in Structural Engineering (MSc or PhD is an asset).
- Registered as a P.Eng or PE in Canada or US.
- 5+ years of experience in civil structural designs for the energy sector.
- Experience with power plants, dynamic foundations, or rotating equipment desirable.
- Proficiency in FEA software (SAP2000, ETABS, S-Frame, STAAD Pro, Dyna6).
- Working knowledge of Python is an asset.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
