Job Description
The Opportunity
Build the Future with Us – Your Impact Starts Here
As a Project Manager – Mining Consulting, based anywhere in Canada, you will lead multidisciplinary environmental and engineering consulting projects that support mining operations across the country. From early permitting strategy and feasibility studies through field investigations, analyses, and delivery, you will guide projects through the full lifecycle while keeping people, planet, and performance in balance.
You will partner closely with technical managers and specialists from WSP teams across Canada, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards — while building trusted relationships with clients in the mining sector.
Your Impact
- Lead end-to-end project delivery for mining-related environmental and engineering consulting assignments, from initiation and planning through execution, monitoring & control, and closure.
- Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, resourcing, and deliverables, supported by trained project coordinators and a national team of professionals.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, clearly defining roles, responsibilities, and objectives so that everyone understands how they contribute to project success.
- Use internal financial and project tracking systems (including Oracle) to monitor and manage project performance, forecasts, and profitability.
- Apply proven project management methodologies, tools, and best practices to align with stakeholder expectations and meet business needs.
- Drive client engagement throughout the project lifecycle, providing clear, direct communication and embodying WSP’s values of ethics, integrity, and accountability.
- Oversee and integrate work across scopes such as environmental permitting, field programs, desktop analyses, feasibility studies, geotechnical assessments, and other engineering tasks.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks using structured risk registers, proactively addressing issues before they impact schedule, quality, or cost.
- Hold yourself and others accountable for safety, quality, and delivery, remaining calm, solutions-focused, and resourceful under pressure.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- An undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science, Environmental Studies, Business, or a related discipline, with a solid foundation in technical or consulting environments.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience, including at least four (4) years of project management experience in consulting, mining, environmental, or engineering contexts.
- Proven experience managing project financials (budgets, forecasts, change orders) and scope change, including the use of tools such as MS Excel or similar for planning, tracking, and analysis.
- Familiarity with the PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®), with the ability to apply structured methodologies to planning, risk management, scheduling, and reporting.
- Demonstrated success leading and coordinating multidisciplinary teams of consultants, and managing both clients and subcontractors on complex projects.
- Experience using scheduling tools and internal systems; experience with Oracle-based financial tracking is a strong asset.
- Highly organized and adaptable, with a developing leadership profile — you stay calm under pressure and can navigate competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- English fluency is required; additional languages such as French or Spanish are considered strong assets.
- A PMI Project Management Professional (PMP)® designation, or progress toward it, is considered an asset.
