Job Overview

WSP is searching for a Deputy Project Manager - Quality Management, Transit & Rail for our New York City, NY office. You will work with the Transit and Rail Team to deliver infrastructure projects that meet or exceed industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.

Your Impact

In this role, you will provide proactive and strategic leadership in transit and rail engineering. Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing project and work site deliverables
  • Engineering review of permit applications and design plans
  • Managing complex projects, budgets, hours, expenses and subcontractors
  • Developing business and infrastructure opportunities
  • Leading technical contract negotiations and presentations
  • Mentoring staff and managing team performance

Responsibilities

The candidate will:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal engineering and safety regulations
  • Conduct quality audits (e.g., ISO 9001) and process assessments
  • Develop and enhance quality management systems
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to offer trusted advisory services
  • Engage with public and private entities to address engineering challenges
  • Prepare strategic action plans and client value surveys

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline; Master’s preferred
  • 12+ years of relevant experience with transit and rail projects
  • An active Engineer license (multi-state preferred)
  • Strong background in project and quality management
  • Expertise in engineering design software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRail)
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently under pressure
  • Willingness for occasional travel

Compensation and Benefits

WSP offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings. The expected salary range is $130,000 - $240,000, subject to adjustment based on qualifications and internal equity.
