About the Azure Cosmos Data Architect Role at Worx-ai
Worx-ai is seeking an experienced Azure Cosmos Data Architect to design, implement, and optimize globally distributed, high-performance data solutions using Microsoft Azure Cosmos DB. This pivotal role involves leading the architecture of scalable NoSQL and multi-model database solutions within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, ensuring mission-critical applications achieve high availability, low latency, and enterprise-grade security. Candidates must possess deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, data modeling, and performance tuning.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and design scalable data solutions using Azure Cosmos DB (Core/SQL API, MongoDB API, Cassandra API, Gremlin, Table API).
- Define data partitioning strategies, indexing policies, and throughput optimization (RU/s planning).
- Design multi-region replication and global distribution strategies for high availability and disaster recovery.
- Implement data governance, security controls, encryption, and compliance frameworks.
- Integrate Cosmos DB with other Azure services such as Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, and Microsoft Power BI.
- Lead performance tuning, monitoring, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Establish best practices for CI/CD, DevOps, and infrastructure as code.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor engineering teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data architectures.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in data architecture and distributed systems.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB.
- Strong expertise in NoSQL data modeling and schema design.
- Experience designing globally distributed systems.
- Deep understanding of consistency models, partitioning, and indexing strategies.
- Proficiency in one or more languages (C#, Python, Java, or Node.js).
- Experience with ARM templates, Terraform, or Bicep for infrastructure automation.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security and identity management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
- Experience migrating from relational databases to Cosmos DB.
- Knowledge of event-driven architecture and microservices.
- Experience in high-scale production environments (millions of transactions per second).
