Role Overview: Azure Data & Platform Engineer
This role involves leading the migration of SQL Server and PostgreSQL workloads to Azure, designing and deploying Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) solutions, optimizing database performance and costs, and ensuring robust backup, replication, disaster recovery, and security configurations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead migration of SQL Server and PostgreSQL workloads to Azure SQL Database and Managed Instances.
- Design, deploy and support Azure PaaS and DBaaS offerings.
- Analyze and consolidate database instances to optimize performance and cost.
- Implement Azure-native backup, replication, disaster recovery, and security configurations.
- Collaborate with global development and infrastructure teams.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure SQL, SQL Managed Instances and related Azure data services.
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
- Experience in migrating legacy Unix/Linux databases to cloud environments.
- Familiarity with Azure automation, monitoring, and security tools.
- Experience in regulated environments (GxP, HIPAA, GDPR) is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience with 5-7+ years in database engineering.
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., DP-300) are highly desirable.
- Willingness to participate in after-hours support and maintenance.
