Role Overview: Azure Data & Platform Engineer

This role involves leading the migration of SQL Server and PostgreSQL workloads to Azure, designing and deploying Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) solutions, optimizing database performance and costs, and ensuring robust backup, replication, disaster recovery, and security configurations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead migration of SQL Server and PostgreSQL workloads to Azure SQL Database and Managed Instances.
  • Design, deploy and support Azure PaaS and DBaaS offerings.
  • Analyze and consolidate database instances to optimize performance and cost.
  • Implement Azure-native backup, replication, disaster recovery, and security configurations.
  • Collaborate with global development and infrastructure teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure SQL, SQL Managed Instances and related Azure data services.
  • Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
  • Experience in migrating legacy Unix/Linux databases to cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with Azure automation, monitoring, and security tools.
  • Experience in regulated environments (GxP, HIPAA, GDPR) is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience with 5-7+ years in database engineering.
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., DP-300) are highly desirable.
  • Willingness to participate in after-hours support and maintenance.
