Objectives of the Programme

The Communications Support Officer will increase awareness of public health issues and WHO recommendations by designing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies aligned with WHO guidelines. The role involves disseminating findings, planning health education and promotion activities, and advocating for policy action while strengthening coordination during outbreaks and emergencies.

Description Of Duties

The incumbent will develop and support communication strategies for health issues, coordinate with national and international stakeholders, and implement WHO corporate communication strategies to boost the organization's visibility. Duties include:

  • Develop communication strategies and plans with CO, DOH and partners.
  • Create communications and advocacy products for internal and external audiences.
  • Organize events, campaigns, and media briefings.
  • Monitor media and social platforms for reputational risk.
  • Coordinate with national stakeholders on emergency and risk communications.
  • Deliver media-sensitization training for WHO staff.

Required Qualifications

A university degree in communication, journalism, marketing, public health or similar is essential. A minimum of two years of relevant experience in communication strategies is required. Advanced degrees and further training in strategic communication, public health, risk communication, or related areas are desirable.

Skills and Competencies

The role requires expertise in communication, media relations, social media, advocacy, and effective networking. Candidates must be skilled in journalistic writing and possess expert knowledge of English, with knowledge of Filipino considered an asset.

Remuneration and Additional Information

The annual base salary starts at PHP 1,827,954 along with 30 days of annual leave. This fixed-term position (12 months) is open to nationals of the Philippines. Applicants will undergo a written test and/or video assessment and will need to provide certified academic credentials and other documentation as required.
