Senior Learning Designer/Author at Workday
This contract role can be located anywhere in Canada and is fully remote.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced learning design professional to lead the transformation of workplace learning through innovative instructional design and project leadership. In this role, you will serve as the strategic bridge between clients, content creators, and learning outcomes, orchestrating complex learning initiatives from conception through delivery. You will leverage cutting-edge AI tools and proven instructional design methodologies to craft engaging, effective learning experiences that help organizations unlock their full potential. This position requires a unique blend of creative instructional design expertise, meticulous project management capabilities, and exceptional stakeholder relationship skills. You will be responsible for ensuring that every learning experience meets the highest standards of quality while managing multiple concurrent projects and fostering collaboration across diverse teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead content deployment projects from initial scoping and planning through final delivery
- Build and manage comprehensive project plans, timelines, and milestones across multiple simultaneous courses
- Track project progress, anticipate potential risks, and maintain schedules within defined scope
- Conduct discovery and migration calls with clients to understand goals and define project requirements
- Maintain proactive communication with clients, providing regular updates and incorporating feedback
- Coordinate and mentor instructional designers and authors throughout project lifecycles
- Foster strong collaboration between subject matter experts and internal teams
- Analyze source material and learner needs to define clear learning objectives and content strategy
- Design engaging, structured courses and interactive lessons using established templates and learning principles
- Refine, rephrase, and organize content to ensure clarity, conciseness, and alignment with learning outcomes
- Review and quality-check course drafts and final versions for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to standards
- Coach authors on instructional design best practices and content quality expectations
- Champion and implement design principles, tools, and organizational best practices

- Direct client and cross-functional team collaboration
- Conducting discovery sessions and translating insights into actionable course designs
- Reviewing and ensuring quality of learning materials
- Mentoring or guiding other instructional designers or authors
Qualifications:
- Bilingual candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in additional language
