About the Role

The Legal Counsel role at Workday is a contract position ideally located in Pleasanton, CA with an onsite hybrid requirement. It can be remote outside of Pleasanton. The job involves offering expert legal advice on complex employment matters both domestically and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Counsel People & Purpose on employee relations including performance and terminations.
  • Advise on domestic and international employment laws and issues.
  • Draft and review employment, severance, confidentiality and other agreements.
  • Manage administrative claims and litigation such as discrimination and wage disputes.
  • Conduct diligence and advise on mergers & acquisitions.
  • Support employment-related projects including internal policy reviews.

Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a skilled attorney with a strong background in employment law. They must possess:

  • Strong knowledge of both domestic and international employment law.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation skills and attention to detail.
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar membership in relevant jurisdictions.
  • At least 5 years of experience in employment law or related fields.
