About Woolworths Group

Woolworths Group is Australia and New Zealand’s largest retailer, serving over 20 million customers weekly across brands like Woolworths Supermarkets, Countdown, and BIG W. Employing 190,000 team members, we strive to create better experiences by combining the strengths of Woolworths Group and Quantium. This partnership has formed Wiq, a new business focused on reimagining retail through data-driven decisions and solving complex problems using agile methodologies.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, implement, scale, and maintain Advanced Analytics solutions primarily using Google Cloud (GCP) products, including data models, pipelines, API endpoints, Machine Learning (ML) features, and predictive models.
  • Develop Cloud-based ML pipelines to address a broad range of business challenges.
  • Enhance the Engineering Guild's capabilities by pioneering new technologies and approaches to improve time-to-market, reliability, and performance of Data Science applications.
  • Collaborate effectively with Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and Data Engineers to create cutting-edge retail tools in an agile environment.
  • Present and solicit feedback on architecture and solution designs to foster alignment and support.
  • Apply relevant testing frameworks to guarantee the robustness of solutions.
  • Clearly communicate analyses, insights, solution designs, and demonstrate working solutions.

What You Will Bring

We are looking for an experienced Machine Learning Engineer with a strong problem-solving mindset, capable of deconstructing abstract challenges into manageable components and developing solution hypotheses.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of commercial software development experience.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in Python, SQL, and Linux.
  • Hands-on experience with GenAI (LLM) solutions (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with containerized solutions such as Docker (preferred).
  • Experience building Machine Learning / Data pipelines (preferred).
  • Experience building RESTful APIs (preferred).
  • Experience in ML Engineering, MLOps, or DevOps (preferred).
  • Experience with ML algorithms, techniques, and packages (preferred).
  • General experience in dashboarding and reporting (e.g., Tableau) (preferred).
  • Security: Experience with Orca, Snyk, and GitHub Security (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) (preferred).

What You’ll Experience

Woolworths Group offers a global business environment with extensive career possibilities across various disciplines. Benefits include team discounts across Woolworths Group brands, a robust rewards program, 12 weeks paid parental leave for primary caregivers (eligible from day one), paid superannuation for up to 12 months during parental leave, and comprehensive wellbeing programs including 24/7 access to the Sonder app. Our progressive leave policy supports a healthy work-life balance.
