Job Overview

WoodmenLife is seeking a Manager Software Engineering to lead a dynamic team through a large digital transformation. In this role, you will align technology strategy with business needs and oversee a suite of engineering projects including cloud computing, containers, microservices, and the latest in coding frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineers in delivering scalable, reliable applications.
  • Manage daily team activities, recruiting, and performance management.
  • Implement and coach agile, SAFe, and IDesign methodologies.
  • Engage in strategic planning, budgeting, and capacity forecasting.
  • Provide hands-on coding support and mentoring as needed.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years in application management/leadership and 10+ years in software development.
  • Deep experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), .NET, Java, and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong technical, coaching and communication skills.
  • Proven record in managing geographically dispersed teams.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Exposure to microservices, PaaS, and IaaS.
  • Experience in message-based integration and event-driven architecture.
