Job Description
Senior Data Scientist, Finance at The LEGO Group
Drive impactful financial outcomes through data science and become a key enabler of data-driven decision-making at The LEGO Group. In this role, you will be in the CFO organization’s Advanced Analytics team, integrating insights into strategic decisions. Join us as a Senior Data Scientist, Finance and shape the future of finance!
Please note: This role is at Manager level, individual contributor and we do not support relocation.
Core Responsibilities
- Collaborating with CFO stakeholders to turn business pain points into applied advanced analytics opportunities – from initial assessment through to shaping delivery plans and assisting with solution adoption.
- Engineering model features from governed, production-ready data using scalable tooling (e.g. PySpark), enforcing quality checks, lineage, and reproducibility.
- Building, validating, and deploying statistical and machine learning models, and integrating solutions into production workflows.
- Supporting iterative delivery from proof-of-concept through production hardening, scaling, and establishing monitoring and maintenance routines.
- Designing, documenting, and managing the analytical data products created through applied data science solutions (leveraging ML and AI), ensuring they remain trusted, discoverable, and reusable across initiatives.
- Collaborating closely with data engineers and analytics peers to prioritize enhancements, embed monitoring and retraining safeguards, and maintain operational resilience throughout the solution lifecycle.
Play your part in our team succeeding
You will join the Corporate Finance, Systems, Analytics, and Insights team, responsible for the accuracy and quality of all data across the Finance organization, while driving our agenda to be more digital and data-driven. We are committed to using data and AI to bring value for the CFO organization. This is a highly visible role within the team and central to driving our transformation to becoming data-driven and elevating our decisions with advanced analytics across the CFO organization.
Do you have what it takes?
We are seeking a motivated Data Scientist who thrives at the intersection of analytical modelling and data engineering. The ideal candidate brings several years of experience spanning data science and data engineering, ideally supported by a master's degree in a quantitative discipline. You will bring:
- Solid grounding in core data science mathematics (statistics, probability, optimization) applied routinely to complex datasets.
- Practical exposure to data engineering concepts, including schema design, Delta Lake or equivalent lake house architectures, and governed data catalogues.
- Experience orchestrating workflows on platforms such as Databricks, leveraging Spark for large-scale feature preparation and automation.
- Proven use of software engineering discipline for data science (e.g. modular code design, testing, etc.) when building notebooks and production-ready codebases.
- Professional experience in Python, including proficiency with data manipulation libraries and comfort working with Git-based version control.
- Hands-on knowledge of machine learning frameworks (e.g. scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and familiarity with MLOps practices including model registries, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code principles.
- Strong communication skills to articulate assumptions, trade-offs, and model performance to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have:
- Finance domain experience, ideally covering FP&A, finance partnering, or insights and analytics teams.
- Familiarity with GenAI-enriched analytics products, including prompt engineering or retrieval-augmented generation patterns.
- Exposure to feature stores and vector databases.
