Overview

West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) is the second largest fire and rescue service in England. Serving an area of 902km² and a population of over 2.9 million, WMFS is driven by its vision of 'Making the West Midlands safer, stronger and healthier'. This temporary role (minimum 12 months) is open to current Manager 2/Professional 1 or Station Commanders, offering a unique opportunity to influence future fire and rescue service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of the Service Delivery Model Review.
  • Oversee development of the Community Risk Management Plan.
  • Engage with staff, public, partners, and elected members.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on community risk intelligence.
  • Represent WMFS at regional and national levels.

Experience and Skills

Required: strong knowledge of community risk management and statutory framework; proven ability to deliver complex projects; excellent data analysis, risk modelling, and communication skills; experience in stakeholder consultation and engagement; and passion for evidence-based service improvement.
