Job Summary

The Transportation Operations Manager is responsible for onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of all drivers and helpers. This role establishes and maintains positive relationships with frontline employees and spends the majority of the day in the field with them.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Onboarding: Ensuring new frontline employees have the necessary tools, instruction, and feedback. Daily meetings with new employees ensure consistent communication and support.

Developing: Providing regular touchpoints, reviewing best practices, and focusing on career goal progress.

Coaching: Identifying improvement opportunities and collaborating with employees for continued success.

Mentoring: Leading by example by upholding safety practices and teaching the WM Way.

Performance Management: Conducting root cause investigations for injuries and incidents, documenting records for regulatory agencies, reviewing and auditing route operations documentation, and visiting customer sites to resolve safety issues.

Qualifications

Required: Associate's Degree or equivalent, High School Diploma with two years relevant experience, successful completion of the WM Route Manager Trainee program, minimum age 18, legally eligible to work, and a valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This role operates in a mix of office and field environments and routinely uses standard office equipment.
