Job Summary
The Landfill Operations Manager ensures the highest standards of environmental safety and operational excellence by effectively managing the day-to-day operations of the landfill.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring smooth operation of landfill including construction, permitting, and leachate/gas management.
- Minimizing operational costs while maximizing productivity and maintaining safety and environmental compliance.
- Reducing turnaround time for trucks and tracking waste volume and weight.
- Acting as a liaison for community relationships and monitoring permitting issues.
- Complying with WM’s Mission to Zero standards and regulations.
- Overseeing personnel needs, including training, evaluations, and input on termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
- Assisting with budgeting, property maintenance, inspections, and preventive maintenance programs.
- Conducting safety meetings to promote morale, productivity, and efficiency.
- Providing training, presentations, and updating required reports in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s Degree or High School Diploma/GED with four years relevant work experience, plus 7 years relevant work experience.
Preferred: Additional qualifications as applicable.
