Job Description

Company Description

We’re building a scalable, high-performing Legal function for our 16 million customers globally. We are looking for a Graduate Legal Analyst to join us as part of the Legal team’s two-year graduate programme. This is an incredible opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of matters across our Legal, Privacy, and Company Secretarial teams. Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money. You can help us achieve our mission of money without borders: instant, convenient, transparent, and eventually free. We're powering money for people and businesses: to pay, to get paid, to spend, in any currency, wherever you are, whatever you're doing. Check out our WiseStart programme for graduates and what it’s like working at Wise.

Job Description

How you will contribute

During the two years, you will spend time in different ‘focus areas’ of the Legal tribe which means you’ll have exposure to a wide range of legal matters, spanning across multiple parts of the business. From day one you’ll be working alongside lawyers within the Legal team in London and globally across Product, Corporate, IP, and Disputes functions. You’ll also have rotations in Privacy, supporting the team in helping Wise comply with data protection and privacy laws, and the Company Secretarial with corporate governance and administration.

Graduate Legal Analyst opportunities

  • Make an impact. You’ll have an opportunity to build, own and grow parts of an award-winning Legal team in a fast-paced, listed and profitable fintech.
  • Own your path to success. You’ll have a high level of autonomy and responsibility but also the support of working alongside members of a high-performing Legal team.
  • Work in an international Legal team and learn about Legal, Privacy and Company Secretarial functions.
  • Expand your legal skills and knowledge and develop for the future.

In your two-year programme as a Graduate Legal Analyst, you will:

  • Onboard and spend some time understanding the mission and the Legal Tribe’s vision. Once you know this, you’ll better understand how you can contribute.
  • Understand how Legal works at Wise and what Legal, Privacy, and Company Secretarial teams do. You’ll get a chance to explore different areas and get an opportunity to deepen your knowledge of them.
  • Conduct legal research on a wide range of topics to answer queries by looking into financial regulations, legislation, regulatory guidance, and case law.
  • Assist with drafting and reviewing a wide range of legal documents, contracts, and agreements (including MSAs, SAAS agreements, termination agreements, lease agreements, intercompany agreements, intellectual property documents, and regulatory submissions).
  • Analyse and interpret a variety of legal documents for identifying regulatory, commercial, and litigation risk. Keep up to date with changes in financial services regulations and policy developments with horizon scanning.
  • Support the Products team with launching new products and negotiating deals with strategic partners.
  • Support the Disputes function with organising case materials and preparing legal documents for court proceedings and dispute resolution matters.
  • Attend court hearings, take detailed notes, and assist with the management of litigation cases, and more!

Wise’s Legal Graduate Programme is not intended to serve as qualifying work experience needed to qualify as a solicitor. The programme is a full-time two-year fixed-term contract and we do not expect Graduate Legal Analysts to study for the Solicitors Qualifying Exams at the same time as working with us. The intention of the programme is to gain valuable on-the-job experience and unparalleled exposure to Wise’s fast-paced Legal team. All members of the Legal tribe are expected to be in the London office at least 12 days a month (which works out as 3 days a week on average). Please note that during your onboarding period (the first 3 months), you’ll need to work in our London office for 4 days a week. At the end of the two-year programme, you will have an opportunity to apply for any available permanent role at Wise.

Qualifications

What does it take? These things are a must:

  • You graduated in 2024 or 2025 or are graduating in 2026 with a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree.
  • You are able to start a full-time graduate job in September 2026.
  • You are eligible to work in the UK - we are unable to support new work visas for this role.
  • You have an interest in payments and fintech industries.
  • You have familiarity with the types of laws and financial regulations applicable to a UK fintech company.
  • You have great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex concepts to different stakeholders.
  • You are curious, keen to learn and proactive by nature.
  • You have a get-it-done, collaborative approach to problem solving.

And any of these would be great, but they aren’t essential:

  • An LLB Bachelor of Laws or LLM Master of Laws.
  • A previous legal internship or similar.
  • Proficiency in a second language.
