Your work will directly impact the usability and effectiveness of federal digital services, making a meaningful difference in public sector technology modernization efforts.

  • Proficiency in design software such as Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools
  • Strong understanding of human-computer interaction and usability principles
  • Experience with user research methodologies and data collection techniques
  • Knowledge of responsive web design, cross-browser compatibility, and device adaptability
  • Familiarity with design systems, style guides, and pattern libraries

  • Knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust clearance; active clearance preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct user research aligned with the design thinking process to gather insights and identify user needs
  • Translate research findings, user feedback, and business requirements into actionable design tasks
  • Ideate and develop features from initial concept to detailed wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders, including UX researchers, engineers, product owners, and business analysts, to ensure user-centered design solutions
  • Organize and maintain design files and assets for seamless handoff to development teams using Zeplin or similar tools
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of design systems, style guides, and UI pattern libraries
  • Ensure all designs comply with web standards, accessibility guidelines, and usability best practices
  • Support the implementation of responsive and accessible interfaces across multiple devices and browsers
  • Participate in design reviews, user testing, and iterative improvements to enhance user experience
  • Maintain consistency with existing design patterns and style guides, updating them as needed based on live feedback and evolving standards
