About The Staff Data Analyst Role
The Staff Data Analyst will be a key member of the Block Compliance Analytics team, responsible for integrating data-driven insights into our compliance organization. This role requires a proven track record in the Financial Crimes and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) space, with an emphasis on developing strategies and leading critical workstreams that deliver actionable analytics. The successful candidate will collaborate with various internal stakeholders—including legal, engineering, and compliance teams—to influence strategic decisions and ensure regulatory requirements are met effectively. You will be instrumental in quantifying compliance risks, enhancing the effectiveness of our compliance programs, and communicating complex insights clearly to both internal leadership and external regulators. Your work will directly contribute to redefining how the world interacts with money, ensuring our platforms remain secure, compliant, and innovative.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 6+ years with a Master’s degree, or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of experience in Compliance and AML
- Expert proficiency in SQL and data analysis/visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker
- Advanced skills in ETL development and data pipeline management
- Proven ability to solve large, complex problems using technical expertise
- Strong project management skills with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present insights compellingly
- Impeccable attention to detail and professionalism
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of data strategies for regulatory engagements, including ETL processes, data validation, and analysis
- Align regulatory expectations with compliance and product roadmaps to influence strategic planning
- Utilize raw data to educate internal teams and external partners on the impact of new regulations, policies, or environmental changes
- Collaborate with legal, engineering, and compliance teams to design and implement essential compliance program components
- Establish yourself as a thought leader by translating insights into actionable recommendations through effective communication and cross-functional collaboration
- Leverage your subject matter expertise to educate, coach, and influence stakeholders across the organization
- Manage multiple high-impact workstreams, navigating levels of abstraction in both written and oral communications
