About The Role
The Network Security Engineer at Under Armour plays a critical role in safeguarding the company’s global network infrastructure. This position involves proactively identifying security risks and incidents across corporate, retail, distribution, and regional data center networks. The engineer will support a comprehensive, risk-centric security program aimed at reducing external exposure, increasing visibility, and maintaining control over the organization’s digital environment. Responsibilities include overlaying security capabilities onto existing technologies, maintaining signature-based and behavior-based detection systems, and supporting strategic initiatives such as architecture reviews and new technology deployments. The role requires close collaboration with network engineering, incident response, and threat intelligence teams to ensure the security and resilience of Under Armour’s network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network security, hands-on experience with security tools, and the ability to analyze and respond to complex security threats effectively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with typically 5 years of relevant cybersecurity experience
- Master’s degree in a related discipline with approximately 3 years of relevant experience
- Alternatively, 9+ years of relevant cybersecurity work experience without a degree
- Experience in global enterprise network security, cybersecurity, or network engineering
- Proficiency with firewalls, NAC solutions, intrusion detection platforms, and security appliances
- Hands-on experience with network configuration, troubleshooting, and security management
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and PowerShell
- Familiarity with SD-WAN technology and cloud network security capabilities
- Understanding of networking principles and security features in major cloud platforms
Responsibilities
- Support the design and architecture of secure network infrastructure
- Collaborate with network engineering teams to implement infrastructure hardening, firewall solutions, NAC, Wi-Fi security, and SASE solutions
- Assist in the development, management, and maintenance of Under Armour’s global network environment
- Develop and enforce network security policies and standards
- Maintain visibility and control over the global network environment through monitoring and analysis
- Review network traffic for suspicious activity using advanced monitoring tools
- Test and validate new hardware technologies deployed within the network
- Partner with the Incident Response team to mitigate network security alerts and anomalies
- Work with Threat Intelligence teams to analyze and incorporate indicators of compromise (IOCs)
- Support vulnerability management efforts, including patching and mitigation strategies
- Review and remediate suspected malicious activities leveraging technical expertise
- Analyze large volumes of network, file, and host-based logs to identify security threats
- Engage in security engineering and architecture support for new enterprise projects
