About The Role

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Lead AI Software Engineer to join the Maximus AI Accelerator team supporting enterprise-wide initiatives. This role is designed for an accomplished, hands-on individual contributor who is also a team player, capable of leading the development and optimization of scalable, secure AI systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for architecting AI solutions, integrating models into production environments using MLOps best practices, and ensuring systems are resilient, compliant, and efficient. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills, capable of managing risks and adapting to fast-paced technological changes. The role involves collaborating across functions, communicating effectively with stakeholders, and contributing to project delivery and solutioning efforts to capture new business opportunities. This is a remote position, and U.S. citizenship is required due to government contract stipulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 7+ years of relevant professional experience in software development and AI/ML
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
• Experience with Python programming and related frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Pandas
• Proficiency in software engineering, DevOps practices, and modern development methodologies
• Experience with API programming and Linux environments
• Experience working as a contributor within a team setting
• 4+ years of experience with cloud solutioning (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Strong understanding of data structures, software engineering principles, and computing infrastructures
• Professional certifications in cloud platforms (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced AI software applications ensuring scalability, performance, and seamless integration with enterprise systems
• Develop and modify systems software to support hardware control and internal business applications
• Create descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive insights and algorithms
• Apply experimental methodologies, statistical analysis, optimization, and machine learning techniques using appropriate coding languages
• Lead technical implementation efforts, translating complex algorithms into production-ready code while mentoring junior engineers
• Collaborate across teams to advance the responsible use of AI, ML, and data science solutions throughout the enterprise
• Contribute to the development and dissemination of best practices, playbooks, and lessons learned in AI deployment
• Support the creation of AI-driven solutions leveraging Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models, and classical machine learning
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies and evaluate their applicability for operational environments
• Build reference implementations of AI and advanced analytics solutions to meet customer needs
• Automate workflows, implement CI/CD pipelines, and promote DevSecOps practices in project development
