About The Role
The Human Resources Assistant plays a vital role within our organization by supporting various HR functions to ensure smooth and efficient operations. This full-time position is responsible for coordinating the new hire onboarding process, managing employee records, and assisting with benefits administration. The role involves conducting background checks, maintaining accurate personnel files, and inputting employment data into our Human Resource Information System (HRIS). The HR Assistant also supports open enrollment processes, acts as a benefits liaison, and conducts benefits audits to ensure compliance and accuracy. Additionally, the position includes responsibilities related to workers' compensation, injury reporting, OSHA compliance, and payroll validation. The HR Assistant inputs employee work schedules, processes time records, and prepares management reports. This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. The ideal candidate will be proactive, professional, and committed to supporting our organizational mission of helping individuals live their best lives.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of one year of Human Resources, payroll, or clerical experience preferred
- Proficiency in computer applications, including spreadsheets and word processing, preferred
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the new hire onboarding process, including distributing and tracking exit interviews
- Conduct background checks and investigations for prospective employees
- Maintain up-to-date employment records and personnel files, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Input and retrieve employment information in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS)
- Maintain employee garnishment files and forward garnishment notices to the Resource Center
- Support open enrollment processes and serve as a benefits specialist for employee populations
- Address employee benefits questions and process benefits changes promptly
- Conduct benefits audits and maintain benefits accrual information
- Review workers’ compensation claims, analyze injury reports, and ensure OSHA compliance
- Ensure proper authorization of payroll actions and validate payroll checks prior to distribution
- Input employee work schedules and time records into workforce management systems in a timely manner
- Maintain records for state and federal reporting requirements
- Distribute exception reports to supervisors and prepare management reports as needed
- Perform other HR-related duties as assigned to support organizational objectives
